Meaning of Diwali
Diwali, the Festival of Lights
Diwali is an annual south Asian festival held during October or November, according to the lunar calendar. All around the world people celebrate Diwali as the symbolic triumph of truth and light over darkness. Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepawali—‘a row of lights’—and has various interpretations and meanings significant to different peoples of south Asian origin. Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs all celebrate the special time of Diwali.
In the spirit of Diwali, we invite everyone in our community to celebrate in support of our hospital’s commitment to shaping the health of our community by focusing on chronic conditions.
