The Dr. James and Margaret Brayley Endowment Fund
The Dr. James and Margaret Brayley Endowment Fund provides an annual scholarship to nurses in the Women’s and Children’s Health program to pursue further education in their chosen field of obstetrics and gynecology.
Why does this fund exist? Our dad, Dr. Jim Brayley, was an Ob/Gyn for over 50 years. He spent his entire career at Trillium, from its founding as the South Peel Hospital in 1958, when his father L. G. Brayley was Chief of Staff, to his retirement in 1992 when it had grown to become the Trillium Health Centre.
Delivering babies was Jim’s calling, and to this he was called over 5,000 times. He had deep respect for the nurses he worked with, who, as he said, “really run the joint”. Margaret was a nurse, his life partner, his business partner, long-time member of the Women’s Auxlilary, and our mom. We thought there was no better way to honour their memories than to establish this fund for nurses’ education.
As a family, we have already seen the impact of this scholarship for its recipients, and we would like to expand that impact by supporting more awards. We want to grow the endowment to continue honouring the legacy that our parents have established.
Please consider making a gift to this special endowment fund.
